In 1911 King George V decided to revive the ancient tradition of investing his son, later to become Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor with the symbols of his office as a state ceremony held at Canarvon castle. A new set of regalia was made. Designed by Sir William Goscombe John RA, and made by the Crown Jewellers Garrard, the 1911 crown is adorned with pearls and amethysts with four crosses pattee and four fleurs-de-lis around the rim. Within the outlines of the fleur-de-lis are daffodils of Wales.
