This huge triple Tiara was created in 1804 as a gift from Napoleon - who had previously emptied the Vatican treasury - to Pope Pius IV, who consequently agreed to attend Emperor Napoleon's Coronation in 1805.

The triple tiara is richly jewelled, and enameled with 3 inscriptions glorifying the Emperor.
