Miniature Crown of Norway Norwegian Crown Jewels

Crowns & Regalia
Item Ref: 28056
Our price: £21.40

According to the 1814 Norwegian Constitution, King Carl III John was to be crowned in Nidaros Cathedral. Norway did not have any crown jewels so the King personally undertook, at his own expense, to have a royal crown made.
Weighing 1.5 kg, the Crown is made from pure gold. It has seven strawberry leaves and eight half arches which meet in the middle in a slightly recessed diamond cross. The top features a globe in blue enamel strewn with small gold stars. The Crown is dominated by A remarkable, large 6.3 cm high Chrysoberyl which was mounted in the front of the crown.  It is said to have been a gift given to King Carl John from the Brazilian consul in Stockholm. There is a cap of purple velvet which is decorated with small crowns embroidered with genuine gold thread, and fifty pearls.  The Regalia was on display in Nidaros Cathedral, but has now been moved and can be viewed in the exhibition ‘Riksregaliene’ (The Crown Regalia Exhibition) in the Archbishops Palace. Base metal: Lead free Pewter gold toned, velvet hat, Swarovski ELEMENTS. This product comes with a Gift box and romance story card
