The Investure of a new Princes of Wales dates back to Edward I, who according to legend presented his son Edward, to the Welsh People. Over the centuries the heir to the English throne was usually Invested with the title of Prince of Wales, but the actual ceremony died out until George V re started it in 1911.
THE 1911 CROWN: Edward VII and Queen Mary reinstated the Investiture ceremony, and their son Edward, (Later the Duke of Windsor) was invested in Caernarvon Castle on 13th July 1911 with this "chaplet", designed with daffodils and roses, set with pearls and amethysts.
THE 1901 CROWN: Made of gold, for King George V to wear as Prince of Wales at his Fathers coronation in 1901.
THE 1728 CROWN: Made of silver-gilt, for Prince Frederick Louis, the son of King George II, to be carried before him in Parliament. It was last used by King Edward VII when he was created Prince of Wales. Base metal: Lead free Pewter gold toned, velvet hat, faux pearls, Swarovski ELEMENTS.
