King George VI, the present Queen's father, inherited 239 loose diamonds when he ascended the throne in 1936, and decided to have a necklace made. Out of the 239, 105 were used to create a 3 row festoon necklace with triangle motifs on either side. This has been worn frequently by Queen Elizabeth II, who has worn it on portraits of world money, and for Royal Variety Performances, and more recently during the State Opening of Parliament.
